Impermanence, Day 1
Impermanence, Day 1
I started the Impermanence Project to remind myself that nothing lasts forever- the bad or the good. Both of which or subjective, and what you make them. In the Impermanence Project, I use the same 56 by 56 inch canvas to create a new painting over and over again- one on top of the other. The only version of the painting exists here, as a 1/1 on this blockchain. Every painting is a reflection of myself, or something that I'm going through. There has been a lot of change in my world recently, and so this project is to remind me to go with the flow.
The Impermanence Project is also to bring up how we speak about the blockchain- this forever & everlasting thing. But, what about if the internet dies, or the power grids go out, or one day in the future the blockchain becomes obsolete- kind of like how pigeons used to be a huge form of communication, but today they're thought of as a dirty city bird. The point is- everything changes. So, in the infancy of blockchain- how will it evolve, and where do we draw the line of impermanence with the internet?
This painting is specifically a reflection of how blind I was feeling at the time. I felt only my hands, and my action, were showing me the way. Normally I can see far into the future, but when I painted this I felt like everything was covered in fog- and the only way out was through. So I posed the question to myself "what will I make, and what will I do, that will get me through?"
May this painting bring the owner a sense of clarity, a sense of direction. A reminder that you can create whatever reality you would like to see. What parts of you will you use to create your future?
