This artwork started off many, many years ago and was originally called "Queen of Contemplation." Non of the black, white, or red grid was painted on the top layer. Just a portrait of a woman, looking beautiful (and yet somehow ghostly at the same time). It was the first big canvas I did after my school graduation, and with high hopes I found a local establishment to hang it in. With no buyers it sat in my apartment, and in the basement of my mother's house, for years on end.

In the last year or so I went through a situation where someone put a target on me. They wanted to be me, to take my power- they wanted the life I had. When I painted the top layers of this piece (the target and the other grids) I was still in the middle of that situation and healing.

Painting this piece helped me to understand how this other person wanted to use, abuse, and steal from me. It helped me to understand my own beauty, and what happens when people closest to you try to diminish that beauty or try to take it away.

May the owner of this piece be brought healing in their insecurities, their beauty, their trust. May they find their voice and their choice again. May they see how they betray themselves so noone can every betray them. And, above all, may the owner of this piece re-engage their free will for their elevation.
